Below you will find lesson plans that augment the reach of the themes and creative challenges to meet the California state curriculum standards. Educators can take photographs of the children's artwork and send them to wecreate408@sanjoseca.gov to be included in the Wall of Creativity.

WEEK 1

Activity Summary: Students will find three hidden school “gems”-one on the
ground, one on a structure, and one with a unique texture-then capture them
through a photo, sketch, or poem and share your work!

WEEK 2

Activity Summary: Students will share an aspect of their home life by sharing a
photo, story, recipe of a family meal or a meal from their favorite restaurant.

WEEK 3

Activity Summary: Students will map out their “Care Circuit” by drawing a shape
filled with family, friends, neighborhoods, and important places in the local vicinity.
A care circuit is a visual representation (often depicted in a circular shape) that
demonstrates important people and places that “recharge” or offer comfort.

Participate Create Connect: Nature: Flaunt Fabulous feathers and create a Birdemon. Images of two birds, one with a churro in his mouth and the other singing.

WEEK 4

Activity Summary: Students will be able to identify a local San Jose bird from their
surroundings, name it as a “Birdemon” (new type of bird) with unique stats and
special moves, and share your discovery through a drawing, a quick video, or an
Earth Day wish.
